DIVE BOMB

GOODBYE LETTER to SKATEBOARDING
As I stand up here this evening
Commemorating my love for our Rolling Art
My heart rejoices but far too soon remorses
the day that the skateboard World and I will part
My Skateboarding will have no ending!
my defiant heart cries out
In its refusal to surrender it continues
as it then begins to shout
I'll love you Skateboarding
I will love you
Until the concrete has all turned to dust
I'll love you Skateboarding
I will love you
Until the steel coping has disintegrated
from eons of rust
The years shall chicane
like a snakerun
Turning from side to side
Instead of hammering ahead to be done
We are not yet near our last Waltz
For the love for you that I hold
Is above and beyond the industry
timelessly eternal and bold
But then the Clock atop the Tower
'Ol Ben begins to whir and chime
"Do not let time evade you
You cannot override time"
In the crossboards supporting the transitions
Where justice naked Is
Time lingers in the shadows
And slams you despite your bliss
In self-doubt and hesitation
halfheartedly life leaks away
And time will have his fancy
tomorrow or today
Onto many a masonited halfpipe
drifts the dreadful snow
Time cracks that smooth riding surface
which once so powerfully flowed
The pools get filled with water
The bowls filled with sand
Oh dive, dive into the water-logged basin
Grasp at the transitions with your weightless hand
My kneepads mold in the basement
my back moans and groans in the bed
and the crack in the Poolblock opens
a lane to the land of the dead
Where the backstabbers reel in the bank notes
The two-faced are glorified by Photogs
Where It's the Sponsors that determine who's exalted
And only the common skaters elevate the Underdogs
It's getting late, late in the evening
Yes my competitive skateboarding might be gone
Big Ben has ceased it's chiming
But my love for Skateboarding Rolls on
