A NEAR FATAL KAR KRASH, 1993

Ben was asleep in the back of a pickup truck when the head on collision happened !

Ben and his friends were headed up North when his car broke down in central CA. He and his friends were offered a ride and got a ride in back of a pickup truck headed the same direction on August 13 , Friday the 13th ,1993. On Saturday August 14, 1993 5:53 AM Saturday the little truck was in head on collision. Ben was asleep in the back bed of that pickup truck on America's most dangerous roads know as Blood Alley. At 24 years old Ben was not expected to survive this car crash. He was in a coma for a few weeks and in the ICU for 6 months.
From this crash BenTen Suffered PTSD for a few years afterwards then a couple of decades later experienced a few epileptic events as a result of the TBI that he endured from this event.
The car that he was riding in broke down on the way to visit his old roommates in San Jose and waited all night for the shop to open to repair it. There were two choices 1) to wait and freeze to death waiting for the mechanic shop to open 2) A friend suggested that he could hop in the back of pick up truck of a stranger that was heading to the Grateful Dead concert. While asleep in the pick up truck going 60 mph Ben flew out of the truck into the middle of the road and was also ran over by a car after being thrown out of the pick up. Leaving Ben with the 2nd worst injuries on scene. Ben was not expected to survive this crash . The passenger in the other car died. Years later Ben found out the male driver was doing nitrous oxide balloons with some random female and another male passanger in the back of the cab did not disclose that information and the driver got away with murder and Ben's life long threatening injuries regretfully without recourse.
Ben, rehabbed his brain & body by practicing yoga & building muscular
strength skating down a windy mountain road opposite foot "goofy". He retrained his brain to grow new pathways to make new connections and skate again.
It took Ben almost 15 years to reapear, after surviving a near-fatal car accident. As a fearless skater not afraid, and as a skatepark entrepreneur in 2007. Ben Still rips in the parks he designed and annihilates the hills behind the Monrovia Manor transcending the schools, too. He even went on to win another Pro Contest. Placing #1 again among a bunch of today's young top pros at RVCA in 2006. He definitely made a come back and defied all odds against him.
